The English idiom a new lease on life (British English = a new lease of life) refers to a second chance that offers a new perspective and an improved quality of life. This term is often used in connection with life-changing or life-saving medical treatments that give people a second chance at life as well as in reference to companies that are able to improve their performance, results and overall situation after having had serious difficulties. For example:
